Dream Diary: January 1997

January 1/2 (Color)

I had a dream with the same scenes before but didn't write that down. I was in the woods and I saw some people running past. They were wearing medieval tunics and some of them were carrying spears and bows. Following them, I found myself in the shadow of an enormous castle. By now there was a massive mob in front of castle and everyone was tossing spears or firing arrows over the castle walls. Even as I stood there, the mob dissipated until there were only a few people left and I guessed that they must have entered the castle through some hidden entrance.

By that time, I had reached the foot of the castle and, turning to my right, I saw a boy sitting on a tree stump with an elephant. The elephant was also seated in a rather human-like fashion. Then I found myself at the side of the castle and, from that point of view, it did not look like much of a castle at all. Instead of a outer stone wall, there was a simple barbed fence about ten feet high. Behind the fence, I saw a few of the tunic-wearers prancing around aimlessly before disappearing through an open side door.

I then noticed that the gate was open and ventured inside. I saw an enormous kitchen. There were numerous kinds of brightly colored fruits and vegetables strewn all over the counters, the sink, the shelves, and the table. There was an oven with an electric range. Inside the oven, I saw several whole chickens roasting.

I walked across the kitchen and into the hallway. There was a door ajar at the end of the hallway and I had a little peek inside. Because I thought I saw someone sleeping there, I turned away and found myself face to face with a balding red-haired man. He was rather chubby and friendly-looking. He told me that he had something to show me, and brought me to a room off to one side of the hallway. It was a relatively small room with a bed and a little refrigerator. There was a little hole in the wall behind the refrigerator.

I had some difficulty going through the hole because it was rather small. It reminded me of the submarine tour at the air and sea museum. The other side was some kind of warehouse, apparently, since it was filled to the ceiling with numerous boxes and crates. I followed a narrow path through the maze of boxes. The path ended at a low crawlspace through which I saw a household appliance store.
